Berikut adalah beberapa huraian mengenainya. Pertama, pendidikan jasmani membantu membangunkan dan meningkatkan keupayaan fizikal dan kecergasan seseorang individu. Selain itu, melalui aktiviti pengajaran dan pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani dapat membantu seseorang individu membangunkan kemahiran pergerakan asas. Pendidikan jasmani di sekolah rendah juga dapat membantu murid-murid meningkatkan kefahaman mengenai keselamatan diri, alatan dan tempat beraktiviti. Dalam aspek pembangunan emosi dan sahsiah, pendidikan jasmani membantu murid meneroka kelemahan dan kelebihan diri mereka seterusnya memberi peluang dan ruang kepada mereka untuk mengenali dirinya. Pendidikan jasmani yang diajar di sekolah berdasarkan kepada kurikulum yang telah digubal mampu menyemai budaya bergiat cergas sepanjang hayat dalam diri setiap murid. Selain daripada menyelerakan dan mampu dibeli, makanan yang dikongsi bersama sekeluarga mestilah berkhasiat dan sihat.
